When we were deciding how we wanted to sell our honey one of the ideas we knew we really wanted was to set up a self-serve honor farm stand. I've always loved the idea behind trusting your neighbor and feel fortunate to live in an area like Cadyville where these kind of stands are common place. Once it was decided that we were going to give it a try Nick started working on the plans. We are so lucky to have neighbors that are willing to work into the early morning hours helping turn the plans in to reality. The final product is "Noah's Shack"!
The concept is pretty simple: Select what you would like and place your money in the metal box. If you don't have the exact amount just square up with us next time. I will be putting a notebook and pen out there so that people can let us know what they take, leave us a note, or if they are feeling really creative a haiku.
Another reason why we wanted this roadside stand is to give Noah something to be responsible for. He may be little but it's never too early to start learning about the rewards of putting in some work. His job his going to be helping us bring the honey down, (probably one small bear for him), and checking the honor box. All of the funds that we receive through the shack will go to directly to him and we will be keeping it that way for as long as it is open.
Today was our first day open and we already had customers stop by. Nick and I were so thrilled to see how happy it made Noah to look in the honor box to see that there was something in there for him.
We hope that everyone enjoys it as much as we do!!! Feel free to stop by at any time because it will be open 24/7 and if it's in the afternoon you might even get to see Noah, (be prepared for him to talk your ear off about animals).
